What does it do?
Serve's Community Transport Scheme helps elderly and disabled people to access medically
related appointments, including their doctor, the hospital, dentist and chiropodist.
We will also take people to visit relatives in hospital or local nursing homes.
Who are the drivers and who pays them?
The Scheme relies on Volunteer Drivers who have been CRB checked. The Drivers collect
the clients from their homes and take them to their appointment, bringing them back
afterwards. The Volunteer Drivers are reimbursed by the clients for their expenses
at a previously agreed rate.
|
What area does the Scheme operate in?
The Scheme covers people who live in Rushden, Higham Ferrers, Raunds, Irthlingborough
and surrounding villages, and we are able to cover hospital appointments in places
such as Leicester, Oxford and Stoke Mandeville, as well as the usual local medical
facilities.
I am confined to a wheelchair, can you take me?
Yes, we have wheel chair accessible vehicles, driven by our own drivers.
In addition to the normal expenses, there is a surcharge of £10 per
journey for the wheelchair accessible vehicles, which should be booked 5 days in
advance of the appointment
