Frumenty members, Yasmin Bradley, Geoff Brown and Paul Rogers, were commissioned by Serve earlier this year to listen to its clients` reminiscences of life in Rushden some sixty years ago. This was done in a series of workshops held at Serve`s day centres in Rushden and Higham Ferrers, which produced both humerous and poignant memories of their youth. These memories were the inspiration for songs written and performed by Frumenty members at the concert (to listen to some of the songs and read more about the project click here).

The concert was opened by the Mayor of Rushden Town Council, Councillor Mrs Janet Pinnock and was attended by older people who had participated in the project. Shirley Cockings, Serve`s Registered Manager said, “We are really pleased with how successful the project has been and we`ve had lots of positive comments from those who took part. We hope to be able to continue with similar projects”. A CD of the songs has been produced as an unusual and permanent record of people`s memories expressed in song. Called “Through Younger Eyes” it is priced at £5.00 and is available by contacting us here. Serve would like to thank all those who participated in the project and Northamptonshire Community Foundation for its funding and ongoing interest throughout.
