Make more of a difference

Serve is a local charity and relies on grants and donations to keep on providing vital services to vulnerable older people and disabled adults. Every donation, no matter how large or small, counts and goes directly to running our services:

  1. Two day-care centres where older and disabled people can enjoy a hot meal, participate in activities and therapies and enjoy a social life. Many of our clients live alone and would otherwise have very little, or no, opportunity for social interaction.

  2. Home Care. Our trained carers visit vulnerable people in their homes to provide personal services (e.g. dressing and washing), cleaning and shopping.

  3. Handy Help service. Older and disabled people can call on us to undertake minor but sometimes vital building repairs and adaptations at cost, which enable them to continue living in their own homes.
  4. Transport Service. We provide travel from and to our day centres and to medically related appointments.

  5. Advice Service. We offer general advice on a range of issues including Carer and Attendance Allowance claims and other benefits.

Any help you would be able to give us would be gratefully appreciated

Serve`s clients are particularly vulnerable individuals who desperately need our help. By supporting us you will not only be improving their quality of life and well-being, but also enabling them to live independently for as long as possible in their own homes and helping to prevent hospitalisation.

But we won`t stop there!

Serve is constantly striving to meet the needs of vulnerable older people and adults with disabilities. As the older population continues to increase, so must our services. The occurrence of Dementia too is increasing and we are planning to open a Specialist Care and Crisis Response Centre shortly. We have already had some success in fundraising but need more support to provide the necessary one to one care. The centre will open five days per week and extended opening times will allow pre-retirement carers to stay in, or get back into employment.

How can you help?

There are several ways you can help to make to make a difference to vulnerable people`s lives:

Regular and One-Off Giving

How much and how often you give is entirely up to you. You may choose to donate monthly, quarterly or annually. For example a small amount each month or a larger amount annually.

A regular donation helps us to plan ahead, to roll out new services and to maintain and expand existing ones.

Donate in Memory

Giving a donation in memory of a loved one or friend is a lasting way to commemorate their life. Or you may prefer, instead of flowers at their funeral (or, as well as) to request donations to be sent to Serve in their memory when you are arranging a funeral of a relative or friend. Flowers soon fade whereas a donation is a long-lived memorial.

You can ask friends and relatives to make a donation by cheque or postal order made payable to Serve and send it to the address given on our Home Page.

We will acknowledge by letter any donations we receive. You can rest assured that we will keep details gifts and givers in strictest confidence unless they advise otherwise.
